Ola! :) I am back… I’ve been away for a while because yet again, I am losing inspiration with some things (note: I am a bit complicated at times, that’s why).

The past two weeks of January is quite boring. And um, I am starting to feel bored already. Also the stress of having to think for long term goals are equally stressful. Oh well. I am hoping I could get over these things  soon.

And oh, after so much deliberation (for months, actually) I decided to have my super curly slash kinky slask dead hair rebonded yesterday. I went to Bench Fix Salon (because I figured the same old neighborhood salon won’t be good enough for my hair) and tadah, it was AMAZING. :) My stylist was Benj with the help of his assistant Portia (um, she’s actually a HE).

I was in the salon for almost 9 hours but it was worth it. And now, I am officially broke.

Not the year-end post

Posted under Urban Jungle

We’re back from HK! And I’ve got tons of cute stuffs. I bought everything (cheap but cute stuffs) from 7-11 in HK. And now I’ve got tons of cute key chains, small tin cans, stickers and cute tapes - I don’t know where to use them. My sister got quite less clutter stuffs than me she got some more practical things such as cookies and usable stuffs for everyday life.

The trip was fun - we (four in the family) had to spend FOUR days and THREE nights together - and it was chaos! Think The Osbournes. Four different people with different personalities (NOT compatible personalities), it was chaos at it’s finest. We don’t use foul language though. Sigh. But we had great fun together despite the differences.

December 18, 2007: THURSDAY

Okay, before anything else, I’d like to say that holiday season is very
much different for grown ups. I just realized this after having been
subjected to the pressure of ’shopping’ for some Christmas gifts. Last
minute shoppings and worst, the traffic.

Stressful:
1. Traffic - Last Friday (December 14) was our company Christmas party and it took us
about more than an hour just to get past  Makati Avenue - and it was
already midnight!
2. Last minute shoppings - more so if you’re like me, who, doesn’t have
funds. These gifts are somewhat expected from me (such as those for
exchange gifts and stuffs)
3. Parties - late night parties. I am not a big fan of parties, where we
have to play parlor games and stuffs, especially if the party is
immediately after work hours. That is so tiresome. What’s worst? Having to
go to work the next day.

Well, despite of those three stressful things about the season, I must
say, I enjoy it. Since Monday,
1. I’ve been counting down by seconds - because I can’t wait for Saturday.
It’s fun fun fun because I’ll get to go home to Batangas on Saturday,
spend Christmas with family and relatives and my _bf_ .
2. NOT having to go to work for dayssss
3. The family trip on the 26th
4. Some gifts from everyone :)

HOHO… I totally forgot, last Tuesday, I finally got my Nintendo DS Lite,
I got the crimson/black one but it was kind of disappointing because,
honestly, I don’t like the color that much. BUT, of course, practicality
(at some point) dictates that such color is the safest bet. As opposed to
getting the light BUT so KAWAII ones, such as the pink and blue colored
units.

I named her Kewpie. She’s my first ever gaming device (well apart from
Snakes from the good ol 5110 I used to have).

Anyhoo, I am now totally, totally - addicted to Animal Crossing: Wild
World. It was the first game I played with my DS Lite. Having Kewpie
changed somethings - a new dimension for my good ol’ boring lunch break.
Just this noon, while enjoying the time away from office, I was in
Starbucks playing with AC, when suddenly three young boys (studying in
Hope Christian School, between the ages of 3-5) asking me if what I was
holding was a DS Lite, I said yes. And they all gathered beside me trying
to peek at my display. The most agressive one asked “Can I play with
__insert game name here__?” They even asked me if I have Pokemon or
whatever that other ‘Mon’ is. I said I don’t have either of those, and
that all I’ve got was the AC (ok, I lied). I know if I told them I have
those games, it would be a riot amongst the four of us. They’ll attract
further attention from other kids - and worst they might hurdle each other
would leave my Kewpie dead and scratched on the pavement. I know my
imagination was so morbid, but that’s a possiblity.

**
Oh, back to the present. I have another Christmas party to attend to later
(and I have to be there because it’s our department Christmas party) and
from somewhere here in Magallanes we have to drive far north Cubao. EDSA,
here we come. I am not sure what time I’d get there. I can take the MRT
with my office mates but it’s just unrealistic that we can cross such a
short distance but WITH heavy traffic in such a short time.

Aw. Good thing I have kewpie. Hmm, just a thought, maybe I should take the
back seat in the car :) I guess it’s less stressful because I won’t see
all the buses swerving from left to right, right to left.

**

Hmm. We’re going to HK! Not to shop (money matters) but just to visit the
place, see a different environment, and breathe freseher air. Ok, and
maybe a  little shopping. Aw, and we’re gonna go visit Disneyland! :) For
the first time ever, I’ll get to see Winey the Pooh, okay Mickey. AND
Minne mouse!!! :) I am so excited excited excited excited. :) Excitement
overload!!!! :)

Beware of Jeepney Drivers!!!

Posted under Urban Jungle, Cars, Driving

I’ve ranted so many times before about some of the drivers attitude towards driving. And most of those ’some’ drivers are PUV drivers.

Every morning I drive myself to work, struggling with jeepneys obstructing the roads, as I’ve mentioned before, traffic laws here in the Philippines are merely suggestions. Most of the PUV (or even non-pro) drivers obtain their drivers licenses through other means. When you get caught by the police, try to “settle” things - thus, people don’t really care about the rules of the law.

Last Tuesday, I got a call from my b/f that he’s already out from work and he could drive me to work. I was so happy because as much as possible, I want to spare myself from morning chaos on the road. But just as when I thought I was spared from morning stress, one jeepney hit us while crossing the intersection of Pasong Tamo and V. Cruz (near Shopwise).

We signalled before we changed lane - and there was this fast jeepney and hit the side part of the car. I was shocked.

Beware of Jeepney Drivers

What pisses me off:
1. The driver said he didn’t do anything wrong (ok, due process, innocent until proven otherwise)
2. He won’t pay for the damages
3. He said he saw us signalling but it he didnt slow down because according to him, malapit na sya sa amin. (which, all the more, dapat nag-slow down sya)

It all happened in a split second, the jeepney was still far behind us when my b/f manuevered to the other side (he changed lane because there was this Ford who cut us off and just stopped there).

5. The police officer in the traffic bureau wasn’t much of a help.

Beware of Jeepney Drivers

It it weren’t for my b/f, I would have had filed a case against the driver. Pity was the last thing on my mind. I am a person with soft spot to everyone but there’s just something WRONG with letting an irresponsible person go just because he said he’s ‘poor’ and he thought we are rich - because we’re driving a car and he’s driving a PUV. The driver was even smiling while we were in the traffic bureau. I don’t know if he thought everything was funny - or that he knows we can’t ask him to pay for the damages.

It cost us 4,500.

Why do I want to file a case against him? Okay, I am not being inconsiderate or mean - but I just want to fight for my rights and teach him a lesson. People often waive their rights because it’s ‘expensive‘ (court fees, lawyers and stuffs) or impractical (court hearings, etc) to fight for our rights. I don’t have money to hire a lawyer. I don’t have anything. But I just want to let him know that what he did was wrong, that he can’t always get away from his obligations. One more thing that aggravated the situation was that the driver doesn’t have a license - ok, he has - but it was a traffic ticket because he was recently apprehended for another traffic violation.

We all have our rights - inherent to us and even protected by the Constitution. But there are times when we can’t even assert ourselves. I guess, I should try to live with it. BUT, come to think of it - if we try to adapt to this sub-par kind of society and standards, then, no wonder we are still a third world country. It’s a loop. I don’t know where to start. Defensive driving are mostly for those who really got into driving schools - for others, it’s NOTHING. They don’t even care.

If you come across this post - I just want to ask you that please, be a responsible driver. If we can’t change even this system, then how can we grow as a nation?

Enlighten me please

Posted under Urban Jungle

Aren’t coffee shops supposed to be quiet? A place where you can find a happy little corner, read a book, think, laugh with a friend, write, or just do anything that doesn’t concern migraine-inducing NOISE?!

So what would you do if you’re all set, already settled down on your little corner in a coffee shop to have your quiet, soothing and relaxing moment when suddenly a group of 30 loud young people decided they wanted to have coffee? INSIDE. INSIDE THE SMALL COFFEE SHOP. BESIDE YOU?

Some things.

Posted under Urban Jungle, Mobile Fones, Gorgeous Finds, Urban Living

Okay now, I got my Starbucks 2008 planner already! :) I already have my second sticker on my second sticker card. Two more planners and I’m done with this killing-me-softly-with-tall-praline-mocha drama!!!

I was so excited when I got my planner - but I was kinda disappointed when I got to write on the pages. They should have chosen a nicer paper. Using moleskine for quite a while now, I really felt the difference. But I love love love it… I just love having one. The question is: I am so dependent now on my digital planner (aka PDA phone - XDA IIs [my dad’s] and my E61i) so I guess the planner would just be a journal for the secret stuffs. :)

And oh, I got me-self my very first bag from Mango. It wasn’t love at first sight - but for years now I’ve been wanting to have one. :)

I also got a killer high heels. I was supposed to get one from Aldo, but their shoes are very expensive so I got a pair from Janilyn instead. It’s a killer high heels - Literally. After falling hard on the stairs in the office - I commend myself for getting another 4-incher. Guts guts guts. No guts no glory.

Oh, shopping. i don’t know when I’ll be able to splurge again. I need to save up. ;)

Lately, I’ve been really busy everyday - making time for work, family, LOVE and everything else. I miss the internet and blogging. I don’t get an internet connection at work +_+ Precious data perhaps that they’re scared people might leak… I don’t even get a wi-fi signal from nearby buildings. So every weekend I try to do everything I want to do all at the same time. BUT I am not complaining. This is the best job I’ve ever had - so far. :) Loving every minute that I am busy with something. I am really happy when I get a task done. AND the best thing is I have two Starbucks nearby. I might not have enough money to spend for the day, but I always make it sure I get a dose of coffee (to unwind away from the work place AND to collect the much needed stickers for the planner)

On to the more serious stuffs - we watched One More Chance. Call me jologs - but hey, I want no brainer movies. I love love stories. The story is typical, one person in the relationship felt like there was something wrong with a kinda perfect relationship and wanted to get out. Is it wrong to love yourself and think of ways to make us happy?

It’s human nature, sometimes, I also find myself in that situation. Everything works great but there’s something that’s lacking and we wanted to get out. And that’s what I don’t want to feel - when Bea finally wanted Popoy back - the latter was too broken to love her whole heartedly again. It’s a lesson in love that they had to learn the hard way. Sometimes we just needed to get hurt and move away from the scene to see things differently. We needed space but we find ourselves lost and wanted to go back to our comfort zone only to further realize that the comfort zone was gone and we had to learn to live on our own. It wasn’t a cry-me-a-river- kind of movie but it was truly great. People should watch it - and learn things the easier way.

Star*ucked.

Posted under Urban Jungle

OH, just an update, I am on my 22nd sticker on my Starbucks sticker card! Two more and I can get the planner already - then I have to start collecting stickers AGAIN - because I have to get one more before the 5th of December and another one before the year ends. +_+

Well, I might get a Moleskine instead… Spare 1,000+ worth of drinks and just get a Moleskine (which is quite expensive for a notebook/planner) but way cheaper than the Starbucks planner…

To be continued…

Gawd. I am tired. Have I mentioned I am tired?! But it was fun. I’ve been busy the whole week, I didnt even get to mention that last Saturday was my birthday. I spent the day with my boyfriend and with my best friend in Tagaytay.

I learned lots stuffs this week - and I really want to write about them all when I get a chance. But now, I am just tired to write about some other sensible and fun stuffs.

Oh, and my car’s wipers are broken. Kaching. kaching. +_+ NOW that’s the reason why I have to work. Aw, gawd.

Believe it or not, I am somewhat BUSY.

Posted under Urban Jungle, Books, Driving, Urban Living, Fab Dahling

I am busy…

1. Reading a book by Lois P. Frankel, Ph. D entitled: Nice Girls Don’t Get the Corner Office - 101 Unconscious mistakes Women Make That Sabotage Their Career.

I felt like I was trapped in my childhood and I can tell that not until I read the book, I am still a little girl trapped in a woman’s body. I know that I act childlike and childishly most of the time and reading a book made me reflect and see my attitude from a different view.

Here are the top ten things that best apply to me:
1. Mistake #9. Avoiding Office Politics.
2. Mistake #16. Needing to Be Liked.
3. Mistake #22. Being Overly Concerned with Offending Others.
4. Mistake #51. Staying in Your Safety Zone.
5. Mistake #58. Explaining.
6. Mistake #59. Asking Permission.
7. Mistake #60. Apologizing.
8. Mistake #64. Talking Too Fast.
9. Mistake #6. Being Naive.
10. Mistake #21. Sharing Too Much Information.

This book is really good, somehow I know how I can further stretch my comfort zone.

2. Reading articles that could help me grow.
3. Reading articles about proper dressing. Though I am now working in a corporate environment but people don’t really pay attention to corporate dressing, I opt to stay on the conventional side. Dress for the part.
4. Reading lots stuffs on the internet about GTD. I still don’t know where to start, really.
5. Driving around the metro and loving it - except the part when I have to park the car. It’s a mind boggling thing for me. Especially when I’m reversing, I’d steer to the right and completely forget how many times I turned the steering wheel.

I am also busy reading this site:)
