December 18, 2007: THURSDAY

Okay, before anything else, I’d like to say that holiday season is very
much different for grown ups. I just realized this after having been
subjected to the pressure of ’shopping’ for some Christmas gifts. Last
minute shoppings and worst, the traffic.

Stressful:
1. Traffic - Last Friday (December 14) was our company Christmas party and it took us
about more than an hour just to get past  Makati Avenue - and it was
already midnight!
2. Last minute shoppings - more so if you’re like me, who, doesn’t have
funds. These gifts are somewhat expected from me (such as those for
exchange gifts and stuffs)
3. Parties - late night parties. I am not a big fan of parties, where we
have to play parlor games and stuffs, especially if the party is
immediately after work hours. That is so tiresome. What’s worst? Having to
go to work the next day.

Well, despite of those three stressful things about the season, I must
say, I enjoy it. Since Monday,
1. I’ve been counting down by seconds - because I can’t wait for Saturday.
It’s fun fun fun because I’ll get to go home to Batangas on Saturday,
spend Christmas with family and relatives and my _bf_ .
2. NOT having to go to work for dayssss
3. The family trip on the 26th
4. Some gifts from everyone :)

HOHO… I totally forgot, last Tuesday, I finally got my Nintendo DS Lite,
I got the crimson/black one but it was kind of disappointing because,
honestly, I don’t like the color that much. BUT, of course, practicality
(at some point) dictates that such color is the safest bet. As opposed to
getting the light BUT so KAWAII ones, such as the pink and blue colored
units.

I named her Kewpie. She’s my first ever gaming device (well apart from
Snakes from the good ol 5110 I used to have).

Anyhoo, I am now totally, totally - addicted to Animal Crossing: Wild
World. It was the first game I played with my DS Lite. Having Kewpie
changed somethings - a new dimension for my good ol’ boring lunch break.
Just this noon, while enjoying the time away from office, I was in
Starbucks playing with AC, when suddenly three young boys (studying in
Hope Christian School, between the ages of 3-5) asking me if what I was
holding was a DS Lite, I said yes. And they all gathered beside me trying
to peek at my display. The most agressive one asked “Can I play with
__insert game name here__?” They even asked me if I have Pokemon or
whatever that other ‘Mon’ is. I said I don’t have either of those, and
that all I’ve got was the AC (ok, I lied). I know if I told them I have
those games, it would be a riot amongst the four of us. They’ll attract
further attention from other kids - and worst they might hurdle each other
would leave my Kewpie dead and scratched on the pavement. I know my
imagination was so morbid, but that’s a possiblity.

**
Oh, back to the present. I have another Christmas party to attend to later
(and I have to be there because it’s our department Christmas party) and
from somewhere here in Magallanes we have to drive far north Cubao. EDSA,
here we come. I am not sure what time I’d get there. I can take the MRT
with my office mates but it’s just unrealistic that we can cross such a
short distance but WITH heavy traffic in such a short time.

Aw. Good thing I have kewpie. Hmm, just a thought, maybe I should take the
back seat in the car :) I guess it’s less stressful because I won’t see
all the buses swerving from left to right, right to left.

**

Hmm. We’re going to HK! Not to shop (money matters) but just to visit the
place, see a different environment, and breathe freseher air. Ok, and
maybe a  little shopping. Aw, and we’re gonna go visit Disneyland! :) For
the first time ever, I’ll get to see Winey the Pooh, okay Mickey. AND
Minne mouse!!! :) I am so excited excited excited excited. :) Excitement
overload!!!! :)

Blowing Bubbles!

Posted under Urban Living, Cutesy, Life

I’ve been on a cheap thrill this afternoon. My office mate gave me a Fan Yang Gazillion Bubble - our company is the exclusive distributor of these here in the Philippines.

I am so happy with this stuff, really!!! This afternoon, _Bobi_ and I went to Greenhills to window shop. And oh boy, it was so traffic and the queue for parking areas were all LONG that it would take us about an hour or so before we can get a parking space. I was playing with my little bubble bottle already but the heat outside was too much that I decided that we should just go to Paseo instead and hang out. (TIP: Makati is the best place to be on Sundays (just stay away from the mall areas) not too much cars on the road and it’s peaceful.)

The parking area was almost empty and it was windy, what a great time to blow bubbles! :) It was a cheap thrill really and I met four new little friends (two of them looked like Pakistanis and two of them are Koreans) they seemed like between 2-10 year-olds and they loved chasing the bubbles. I even asked one of the Korean kids to blow the bubbles. She was so happy that I felt guilty when I got tired of holding the wand for her and bid her bye bye.

Imagine a 25 year old person (ehem, kid) playing with the wind and the bubbles. I know I looked silly and crazy but I don’t care, it was fun! If only people would take sometime every week to play with bubbles and chase them in the wind, this world will be a happier place to live in. :)

ps. Gazillion Bubbles are available in Toy Kingdom, among other stores. :)

Want for the week…

Posted under Gorgeous Find, Urban Living, Geek Chic, Geeky Me, Technology, Cutesy, Gadgets

Believe me, I wanted to post something emotional (and kinda deep today, but I’ve been nursing a headache since I woke up so I decided to give myself a break)- so I just want to post about something nice - a new want (that I can’t afford)

I want a Nintendo DS Lite - can’t decide between the Nintendogs Edition (Pink with a paw print)

or the Crimson/Black one…

Well, I still have lots of time to decide - I don’t have money to get this soon :)

I have two new personal assistants

Posted under Urban Living, Geek Chic, Geeky Me, Geeky Sites, Gadgets

Due to the lack of decent fund to get myself all these gadgets, I opted for something that’s new to me and something faster than my E61i - I got myself a Sony Ericsson P1i (I named her Andy).

Weird keyboard and all, but right now, it works for me (so far) no problems so far. I also got a Nokia 6300 (aka Emily) as a work mobile phone (the postpaid line given to me came with a fone, Nokia 1110 but it doesn’t feel well).

:)

Some reviews of the Sony Ericsson P1i:

I even thought of getting an iPhone over the above mentioned phones but after reading some negative reviews, I realized that I’ll regret it big time. :)

And because I am such a Starbucks Sticker Whore, I decided to skip having a dignified lunch slash coffee break to avail of their promo - Buy one drink, get two effing stickers. So, I just have to wait for a couple of minutes more until 12:30, then I’ll get my coffee already (Happy Hours: 12:30-2pm and 8-9pm)

Desperate.

A new hub… :)

Posted under Urban Living, Technology

GREAT news! :) Guess where I am right now - I am in our house here in Batangas and finally finally finally we have an internet connection! :) DSL baby! Now, I am pretty much sure I just want to stay here in Batangas when it’s vacay time. Too bad I am working already (BUT loving it!) so I really can’t stay longer here when it’s vacay time.

I have a NEW happy little corner now. :) Loving it loving it!!! ^_^

___

I guess with my job, I really have to sacrifice few personal hours during weekends (aka, my used to be me-time, is now invaded) I am not whining though. I still love the feeling of doing something fulfilling everyday. :)
So today, a Satruday, after making few phone calls and sending numbers of text messages and emails to people concerned - I had a chance to tinker with my site. I already forgot how to use Cyberduck! I also forgot my cPanel password and I already forgot how to upload themes. Tsk tsk. I figured everything out after a little clicks and drags.

I know I am so pressed for time to do in a weekend all the things I love! (the three day weekend doesnt suffice) - there are things that I really wanted to do yesterday but because of the urge to SLEEP, I had to indulge!

____

That’s all for NOW! :)

Webs… Spider webs on my website :)

Posted under Urban Living

It’s weekend finally! :) I couldnt be happier!!! I’ve been busy the whole week - not that migrane-inducing busyness. SO far, I still enjoy what I am doing.

So, it’s weekend already and I’ve got tons of extra hours for my nappies - the company mobile phone SHALL be put to silent mode while I’m asleep. Lotsa hours to enjoy the internet :)
BUT here’s a secret (something I read everywhere *such as books or internet* NEVER TO DO): I took home some work stuffsssssss.

Some stories :)

Posted under Urban Living

I used to hear that money should never be an issue or a source of discussion in a relationship. Which is what I learned to do early on the relationship. We share, give and take. That was the happy part. The untold – and unspoken part was – we had to save. Together.

We reached to the point when we found ourselves in the middle of a plan – which was previously planned out by us – but we failed to see the whole picture. Neither of us heed when we saw the signs. Maybe we were both thinking that we can solve it as it come. But it didn’t.

Apart from the usual shallow-green-eyed monster fights we used to have, the last argument was the biggest deal of them all - saving together which we didn’t really give greater weight before. We knew we had to face it sooner or later, that lack of savings together wont get us anywhere near the altar.

We didn’’t fight over money or the lack of (savings) it. We had a misunderstanding because of different views and time frames. But we learned. So right now, I am on my another quest, a quest really new to me:– saving up and budgeting.

I ran a few search on the internet and I am still lost as to where to start. Here are the plans we want to do over the next few months:

  1. List down all our expenses everyday to see where the money goes.
  2. Transparency how much we earn and spend in a month.
  3. Try to come up with a reasonable amount to save every month.
  4. Know and set a realistic time frame – and we should be both honest about it. There comes a time when we find ourselves on different pages. I was too advanced while he was too careful taking life one step at a time.
  5. Make number 3 and number 4 WORK at the same time.

I asked him, after what happened last Saturday (the big fight) what could be worse? I felt like nothing could be worst than that. He answered me “That’s giving up on us”

Sweet.

Moving on….

There’s just one thing I am not willing to give up - that’s my happy little corner in Starbucks every lunch break (ie, 145 for my Iced Tall Praline Mocha). I really can’t explain but I love how I get a tiny SPACE away from work in the middle of the day. I get to talk to my boyfriend and at the same time, I spare myself from ‘news’ people talk about during lunch break. I don’t like to gossip because I dont want to be gossiped about.

UPDATE: I cannot bring myself to try the new shoes in the office. I am too scared for my limbs that I might break them during one of my usual ‘busy’ day with the stairs. I have to go to different departments (on different floors).

____

OKAY….

It’s Christmas already. I remember when I was a kid, Christmas season was a huge deal. There’s something about Christmas wind that I was crazy about. It means chilly nights and warm food on the table. But while I was growing up (and old) I already forgot that feeling.

I miss my Christmas vacation in Batangas with my grandparents, I used to stay with them longer during holidays and we go to church (Simbang Gabi). I miss that. That’s one thing every kid should enjoy - because when you start working you can’t just NOT show up at work because you took an early vacation.

____

Oh, speaking of vacation - there’s a vacay coming up this holidays - with my family, just the four of us. But I’ll keep mum about it for now. :) I am excited about I don’t want to jinx it. :p

Some things.

Posted under Urban Jungle, Mobile Fones, Gorgeous Finds, Urban Living

Okay now, I got my Starbucks 2008 planner already! :) I already have my second sticker on my second sticker card. Two more planners and I’m done with this killing-me-softly-with-tall-praline-mocha drama!!!

I was so excited when I got my planner - but I was kinda disappointed when I got to write on the pages. They should have chosen a nicer paper. Using moleskine for quite a while now, I really felt the difference. But I love love love it… I just love having one. The question is: I am so dependent now on my digital planner (aka PDA phone - XDA IIs [my dad’s] and my E61i) so I guess the planner would just be a journal for the secret stuffs. :)

And oh, I got me-self my very first bag from Mango. It wasn’t love at first sight - but for years now I’ve been wanting to have one. :)

I also got a killer high heels. I was supposed to get one from Aldo, but their shoes are very expensive so I got a pair from Janilyn instead. It’s a killer high heels - Literally. After falling hard on the stairs in the office - I commend myself for getting another 4-incher. Guts guts guts. No guts no glory.

Oh, shopping. i don’t know when I’ll be able to splurge again. I need to save up. ;)

Lately, I’ve been really busy everyday - making time for work, family, LOVE and everything else. I miss the internet and blogging. I don’t get an internet connection at work +_+ Precious data perhaps that they’re scared people might leak… I don’t even get a wi-fi signal from nearby buildings. So every weekend I try to do everything I want to do all at the same time. BUT I am not complaining. This is the best job I’ve ever had - so far. :) Loving every minute that I am busy with something. I am really happy when I get a task done. AND the best thing is I have two Starbucks nearby. I might not have enough money to spend for the day, but I always make it sure I get a dose of coffee (to unwind away from the work place AND to collect the much needed stickers for the planner)

On to the more serious stuffs - we watched One More Chance. Call me jologs - but hey, I want no brainer movies. I love love stories. The story is typical, one person in the relationship felt like there was something wrong with a kinda perfect relationship and wanted to get out. Is it wrong to love yourself and think of ways to make us happy?

It’s human nature, sometimes, I also find myself in that situation. Everything works great but there’s something that’s lacking and we wanted to get out. And that’s what I don’t want to feel - when Bea finally wanted Popoy back - the latter was too broken to love her whole heartedly again. It’s a lesson in love that they had to learn the hard way. Sometimes we just needed to get hurt and move away from the scene to see things differently. We needed space but we find ourselves lost and wanted to go back to our comfort zone only to further realize that the comfort zone was gone and we had to learn to live on our own. It wasn’t a cry-me-a-river- kind of movie but it was truly great. People should watch it - and learn things the easier way.

Gawd. I am tired. Have I mentioned I am tired?! But it was fun. I’ve been busy the whole week, I didnt even get to mention that last Saturday was my birthday. I spent the day with my boyfriend and with my best friend in Tagaytay.

I learned lots stuffs this week - and I really want to write about them all when I get a chance. But now, I am just tired to write about some other sensible and fun stuffs.

Oh, and my car’s wipers are broken. Kaching. kaching. +_+ NOW that’s the reason why I have to work. Aw, gawd.
